Creating a sustainable M & M Minecraft Community

Last week, thanks to the support of Mr. Matt, we experienced using Minecraft to build a sustainable village. It was a great learning experience, as we learnt how to work as a team to make sure everyone got fed and we made enough gold coins to be able to develop our village life further this coming week.

There was a lot of conversation that was needed after the first session, as we struggled to understand how to work as a community for the benefit of all. However, after a debriefing back in the classroom, a concerted effort was made to plan for the next session and we finally understood how to make the village function and remain active.

Here is a list of the jobs each student had:

MM Jobs:
Treasurer: Kimvibol
Advanced Jobs: Digging - Wouter
Explorers: Glenn, Donghan
Farmers:
  • Getting the animals in the pen - chickens, cows: Aika, Olivia, Daorada, John.
  • Gathering Cocoa Beans: Dani, Norinn, Chung Yi
  • Collecting wheat: Kimvibol, Dong-Ha
  • Breeding animals: Sienna
Building:
  • Making double doors to the pen: Kunvecheada
  • Expanding the farm: Rithy, Morgan
  • Break the hay and build something to replace it: Nayan, Cherry
Caretakers:
  • Put chest in the middle of community/outside the main hut: Kimvibol
  • Caretakers: Take goods inside chest, make food and feed the people: Mia and Bianna

We have another session tomorrow where Ms. Melinda will photograph how our class have begun to work together, as well as hopefully showing you a picture of what our village looks like.

SUCH AN INTERESTING LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR US ALL!
