So, we took the opportunity to do some different things, such as having some more time in the lab to complete our group/paired writing task (learning and sharing from and with each other), we investigated and shared some fun and challenging maths activities and Ms. Melinda took us for PE (a concept some students found difficult to understand)!
Our information report writing is looking much stronger through a more focused approach on each aspect of a report and how that links to our unit of inquiry, as is using the traits of writing to produce a higher quality piece of work.
We took the opportunity to use some of our maths resources to investigate and inquire into probability. Students came to some interesting conclusions and become familiar with the language used to explain the concept of chance. We think some sharing with our peers who were not here may be in order next week.
We also played some maths games to work on our mental maths' skills. Students always enjoy the challenge and thrill of playing against themselves and others, but it also helps us to consider how we can approach this positively, so that all students can feel that this was a worthwhile learning experience.
During our visit to our KG buddies, we learnt how to create a picture through the iPad app known as Pic Collage. It was a lot of fun to explore and we now need to think about how we could use this app to reveal our learning. Some sharing of ideas will need to happen next week!
Whilst Ms. Melinda has no photos to prove what went on during PE (because she was busy organising), students played some cooperative games known as:
- Workhorse
- The Clock
- Catch
- Shoe Scramble
- Needle and Thread
Students found some to be more fun than others and some brought mixed emotions, but all in all we had an energetic time and that was the name of the game, so to speak!
It was something a little different and fun!
We then cooled down in the lab to reflect on our week. When we made a list of the things we achieved this week, we realised that we had quite a lot to talk about. Please check out your child's blog to see what they had to say.
What impressed Ms. Melinda the most was the communication and cooperation that went on all day as we talked, chatted, problem solved and enjoyed being together!
We look forward to hearing about the adventures of Angkor Wat from our class explorers!
Take care guys and we will see you Monday!
