Poetry Sharing Time

This morning we had a session of sharing poetry. It gave us the chance to look at why poets write poetry and discuss certain features (Literary devices) that we noticed within each poem. We also discussed the word choices such as whether good adjectives and verb choices were made.

This led into working on sensory poetry that is part of our marketplace unit and where we take things that are familiar to us (nouns) and describe them with strong adjectives, then activate them by adding a powerful verb! After we visit BKK market tomorrow we will work towards writing a poem based on what we saw, felt, heard and smelt.

We will continue to share poetry everyday, so that we can become more familiar with the different styles of poetry that exist, good word choices and hopefully inspire each other into reading and creating wonderful poetry.

Here are some pictures of those students who shared today.
