It was a fun morning had by all involved in our Grade 4/5 market day. There was a great range of products and services ranging from drinks and food, to jewellery, crafts, games and a great shoulder massage by Alex in Ms.Bridget's class.
Some students did well and sold all their products whilst others were not so successful, which is the nature of this learning experience. After the first session of selling, students had time to make adjustments to their strategies in order to improve their sales. It was wonderful to see the change after this reflective period, as students realised that they had to go to their customers if their customers were not coming to them. They started advertising their products by singing, chanting and carrying their products around the market. In the last 15 minutes, students who had not sold all their products started dropping their prices to ensure selling everything. For some this worked, but not for all.
After it was over, we debriefed and reflected on those things that were successful and those things that we could have done better. Some wonderful discussions ensued about what was witnessed during the market sales that were effective and what hindered some of us from selling our products more effectively.
Here are the photos from the day.
