So, to continue our collaborative mode to encourage our students to work together positively, this week students embarked on a tough challenge.
In groups, they had to design two structures. One that was free standing and tall and one that was strong. Each group received one point for every cm over 1 metre for their tall structure, as long as it could stand up on its own, and then if the strong structure supported bricks they got points for as many bricks as their structure could support. They then had to multiply the two lots of points together and whoever had the most points won.
This activity encouraged team work and students soon learnt that they had to have their tall structure stand on its own if they were going to get points at all.
Here are some pictures to tell the story.
