Migration Stories

Students were very busy last week creating their migration stories.

Here is the process that got them to their final product:

  1. Research their chosen topic: refugees, natural disasters, education or economy.
  2. Brainstorm ideas using a graphic organiser of their choice.
  3. Create a story mountain to develop an interesting story that involves a complication.
  4. Place ideas on a narrative planner that outlines the introduction, main body and conclusion.
  5. Create a draft.
  6. Edit and revise.
  7. Publish either in essay format, explain everything app or as a picture book.
Students worked really hard to complete them by the end of the week in published form.

It was impressive to observe their enthusiasm, as well as their eagerness to improve their work through communication with their peers and teachers.

Using a narrative checklist and rubric they assessed themselves and then assessed each other's work and were given feedback verbally from their peers.

Their results are being displayed this week i the G5 break out space.

Please make sure to take a look this week as you attend the hopes and concerns conference.

I will take pictures of the display tomorrow and add them to this post!
