Mr Barry's visit

Mr Barry came to talk to us today about our new unit of inquiry: How We Organise Ourselves

Here are some summaries written by our class, so I will let our students tell the story!

Alex: The board of trustees sets goals and are at the top of the school pyramid. Each school needs lots of people to help, support and maintain a school.

Summer Rose: On the 12th January, Mr Barry (Director of ISPP) came to speak to us about education organisations. He talked about how schools usually start in houses with approximately 30 people. He also spoke about non-profit and profit schools. Finally, Mr Barry explained the structure of a school.

Amanda: Today, Mr Barry came to speak to us about how ISPP works as an organisation. He showed us the school pyramid. Before, i thought ISPP started in a good way with a nice building, but now I know that when it started, it only had six students in a villa.

Monica: Mr Barry told us that ISPP is an organisation. IT started in 1989 and since then, the hardest year was 2010. It was kicked out from the villas, no money, no land. The shocking fact was that the electricity bill is $400,000 a year.

Additionally, some of our students began to reword our transdisciplinary theme, so that it made more sense to them. Here are two examples:

Danica: An inquiry into the way we relate to human-made systems and communities;the structure and function of organisations; how people make choices from the alternatives before them;their wants and needs and the way this impacts on humankind and the environment.

Haziq: A study into the relations of man-made systems and organisations; societal decision making; business activities and their impact on people and the environment.
