Dear Parents,
Following the Exhibition, our final unit will be focusing on body systems with a particular focus on transitions for growing and changing young people. This is a very exciting, but challenging stage in our student's development.
We will be organising a number of sessions in which the students can learn more about the changes that young people go through during puberty. These sessions will cover areas such as:
- An introduction to puberty
- Physical changes in the body that can be expected including menstruation and changes in body shape, voice and body hair
- Emotional changes, why they happen and how to deal with these
- Social issues that are common at this age including relationships and friendships
We will use a variety of resources to help students become more comfortable with who they are and how they are changing. We recommend you look at the following websites with your children.
If you are interested in finding out more about the activities and materials included, you are welcome to come and talk to the teachers involved for further clarification. Our work on transition will begin on Monday, April 18th.
Please fill in and return the slip below to acknowledge that you have received and read this letter.
Yours,
Grade 5 Team
