We chose to design our own version of Michael Morpurgo's 'Running Wild' as we are reading this book together as a class read aloud.
Our whole class worked as a team and decided that breaking into different groups based on their own interest would be the most effective use of our time.
We had the following groups:
- Animals: This group designed and created the jungle animals such as tigers and monkeys, but they also included insects and beautiful butterflies and ladybugs.
- Plants: This group designed and created the plants that included beautiful hand crafted flowers, leaves, and even some hanging vines.
- Designers: This team worked on the door design to ensure we remained true to the book.
- Elephant and boy: This team worked really hard to design the elephant and the boy. They had real perseverance when things fell apart at the last minute and they had to come up with Plan B.
Teachers were really proud of their enthusiasm and creative talents, as well as the way they worked together to make sure everyone had a task. They worked as a team and they should be proud of their achievements.
Below, please see the finished product!
This week has been an exciting week and the enthusiasm showed. It is important at times though to stop and reflect upon what we have done and what our objectives were to keep all things in perspective.
Next week, please take some time to look at our individual student blogs to see your child's perspective of their learning this week.
